The lighthing capacitor series CBB80 -A [plastic case] and CBB80 -B[metal case] are designed toimprove the power factor of discharge lamps:

Sodium lamps.
Halogen and metal vapour lamps.
High pressure mercury vapour lamps.
Low pressure mercury vapour lamps.
Fluorescent lamps.

These lamps require magnetic ballasts and transformers for ignition and for Currentlimitation during discharge.

The improvement of the power factor is achieved by the installation of a capacitor ofadequate capacitance into the light fitting. This can be done in the classic series connectionor parallel connection.

Failure to use a capacitor of adequate capacitance could result in damage to the capacitoror the light fitting due to the high temperature during service and the transient over-voltage caused by the switching on and off operation.
